But this is what I’ve observed: Mary Magdalene sought one thing every time we see her – Jesus. She wanted to be near Him. She longed for Him. So, I want to be like her. I want to love Jesus like she did, even if that means embracing a longing for One we’ll never know fully this side of heaven. What is the hope that Christ intends us to have? And can we get it back?

But what we often refer to as hope is nothing more than a latex balloon--equally as likely to float away as it is to burst when it comes in contact with anything rough. Mary and Martha demonstrate how important it is to seek Jesus both in our daily lives and in our darkest moments. In this episode, we'll talk about what it means to seek Jesus even when He hasn't done what we had expected Him to do.

Episode 4: When We Have Lost Faith

In both of our stories today, we see women that Christ encountered who did not outwardly display any great faith in approaching Him. In fact, it’s unclear whether they sought Jesus at all, but it doesn’t matter because Jesus sought them! We can find God faithful even when we have lost faith.

Episode 3: When We Feel Alone

I want so badly for us to stop living with this perception that our isolation will end because our circumstances change. Our feelings of isolation and loneliness will only end when we learn to engage with the Lord in a way that leads to deeper intimacy with Him, and from that will flow an ability to engage in community in a way that is still reliant on the Lord to meet our needs.

In this episode, we'll continue talking about trusting Jesus and finding God faithful. Our conversations are based around my new book, Jesus by her Side: Finding the Nearness of God through the Eyes of the Women in the Gospels. The thing about recognizing Jesus’ presence and faithfulness in our lives is that it is much easier to recognize when He does what we expect Him to do.
