I am so grateful that Laura was willing to share the ways that the Lord is meeting her during this season of her life. If you know Laura and her husband, you know that they are full of God's Spirit and that His joy is evident in them.

First off, I understand why Oprah gives away her favorite things to the whole audience. [Everyone is awinner!]Except today only four of you won an actual item. Not to worry, though. This is my new favorite blog activity, and I might already have the next one planned! Here are the winners for this round. It was not a fancy system, but I promise that it was fair.
Recently I have fallen back in love with words. I know. You're thinking: for someone who had fallen out of love with words you sure did keep writing a lot of them. And you're right. And you haven't even seen the half of them. Words are how I make sense of this crazy thing called life. This keyboard and the journal beside it are a lifeline.
I know Darcee because she is my brother's girlfriend. I count her my friend for many more reasons than that (although I do love her for loving him the way that she does!). Darcee has a quiet, unrushed way about her that reminds you to live in the moment you're in. She is thoughtful in a way that is completely personal--treating everyone as an individual, getting to know you for who you are, loving you with all of your quirks. And she is strong.
I have gotten to know Ashley over the past year or so, and I am so grateful for her friendship. She is open and willing to share the deeper things of her heart. She is also hilariously funny and fun! Jesus has not made this woman dull! She is an amazing cook and one of the most welcoming people that I know. She has a way of making people feel a part of things, of making them feel comfortable and at home.

I have had the privilege of getting to know Becky this year through our church, Bayou City Fellowship. Her faith is genuine, and so is her joy. Becky lives her life in such a way that she notices those around her and makes time to be available to them. There is a calmness about her that I can only describe as the tangible peace of the Holy Spirit. If you know her, you know what I am talking about.
I got to meet Haley because she was interested in attending the college that I went to (Go Elon!). There are not a lot of people in this fine, fair city that have even heard of Elon, so some common friends put her in touch with me, and we met for lunch to talk about all things college.

Today is my dad's birthday. Actually, this took a while. Yesterday was my dad's birthday. I thought maybe I should introduce him. He was the first follower of this blog. (I bet you didn't know that, but he was.)
We walked into the same homeroom on the first day of high school. And Morgan has been my best friend ever since. There is something so sweet about friends who hold our histories without holding them against us. Morgan is one of those friends to me.
Mary knew Jesus. She knew what it was to sit in His presence and hang on His every word (Luke 10:38-42). She knew that He loved her. She knew that He cared. And so, when her brother fell ill, she and her sister Martha called for the Teacher that they knew was the Healer: “Lord, he whom You love is ill” (John 11:3).
I just figured out the end of the book I'm reading. Actually, I'm not reading it. I'm listening to it on my phone because I've been spending my days driving around the state of Texas. It isn't small. This morning I wasn't driving, though; I was running. No, I'm not a runner. In fact, I hate running. It is completely purposeless.
