Spring Bible Study 2019:
A Promise Kept: What the Old Testament Reveals about the Coming of Christ
It is tempting to try to detach the good news of the arrival of Christ from the work that God had done to bring history to that point. But if we do, we will miss the beauty and wonder and goodness of our God! There are countless references in the New Testament that point back to God’s work throughout the Old Testament. What does it mean that Christ was the “last Adam”? What is the “Lion of Judah”? Why did Jesus have to descend from the line of David?
Christ Himself told the people of Israel: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them” (Matthew 5:17). How will we understand the fulfillment if we do not understand the beginning? The New Testament is not a new story. It is the climax of the complete story of God. So this Spring, we will let New Testament truths point us back to the twists and turns of the Old Testament story that led up to that point.
This spring at Bayou City Fellowship, our pastor Curtis Jones will lead our church to begin reading through the entirety of the Bible. I am so excited about this! And to coincide with that reading, in Bible study this Spring, we will explore the story of the Old Testament. Even if you don’t attend Bayou City Fellowship, I’m hopeful that this study will enhance all of our understanding of the Old Testament and what it reveals about our Savior.

It is my desire to see women come to know and love the Lord more by encountering Him in their daily life, prayer and on the pages of His written Word–by entering into our place in His presence and allowing Him to meet us there.
Opening up the Scriptures that He has placed in our hands is one way that we come to know the Lord and His ways. I am working on making several resources available that I hope will be an encouragement to you as you seek the Lord.
